Child Care Programs

Smart Start of Brunswick County works with many different organizations and agencies that provide services to children and families throughout Brunswick County to identify community needs and develop resources to meet the needs of families with young children.  By supporting existing resources as well as developing new programs and providing funding through Smart Start, private grants or donations, the following services are made possible to the young children and families in Brunswick County:

Professional Development Coordination___________________________________

For many child care teachers, the thought of having to go back to school is daunting.  The professional development coordinator is a liaison to help child care providers make their way through the maze of higher education, offering professional development guidance and assistance with enrollment  and academic advising.

WAGE$ Program_______________________________________________________

Child Care providers do a very important job teaching our communities' children, however, they are generally underpaid.  As we strive for higher quality standards, many of these same teachers are obtaining higher education in their field.  The WAGE$ program provides a salary supplement to participating providers based on their educational levels.
