December 17th 6:30-8:30pm- Music in the Brain $10- Music plays a powerful role in the lives of young children. Through music, infants and toddlers can come to a better understanding themselves and their feelings, learn to decipher patterns and solve problems, and discover the world around them in rich, complex ways. The teachers will learn how to connect music experiences with the people they love and make very young children feel cherished. The teachers will discuss social-emotional skills, self-regulation, developing cultural awareness, gross-motor, and fine motor developmental skills. Many other skills will be incorporated such as: body awareness, balance, cognitive skills, and bilateral coordination. Teachers will recognize that playing songs and using musical styles from children’s home cultures create continuity between home and caregiving settings.
